Chris Dietz joined the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department in November 2021 as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations. Dietz serves as one of the liaisons to the various Facilities Management Departments on campus and is the game day manager for Pitt Softball.
As Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations, Dietz is the primary facility contact for both the Petersen Sports Complex and Trees Hall on campus. He also oversees all facility scheduling for both practice and home competitions. Dietz assisted with the design and execution of the Dryland Training space in Trees Hall for the Men’s & Women’s Diving programs.
Dietz has been with the University of Pittsburgh since February 2007 where he previously worked with both the Custodial and Grounds Crew Departments within Facilities Management prior to joining Athletics.
A Pittsburgh native, Dietz resides in the South Hills with his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Sadie.

Favorite place on the University of Pittsburgh campus?
At the top of the stands for Ambrose Urbanic Field. This space overlooks Vartabedian Field with the Pittsburgh skyline and surrounding neighborhoods as the backdrop. (Great place to catch a sunset.)
Favorite sports moment at Pitt?
The 2022 Backyard Brawl. Seeing Acrisure Stadium packed to standing room only, you could just feel the energy in the air, and of course, winning 38-31!
What do you love most about working in athletics?
There is never a dull moment. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to make someone’s day brighter or easier.
Hobbies outside of work?
Getting to spend time outside with family and friends, doing yardwork around the house and occasionally playing recreational hockey.
