Panthers Fall To Virginia Commonwealth, 64-60

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Scott Lilly scored 17 points to lead Virginia Commonwealth to a 64-60 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
Pitt had a chance to break ahead with 1:41 remaining, when the Panthers were down 57-56. But Virginia Commonwealth made five of six free throws down the stretch, including three of four by Shawn Hampton.
The Runnin' Rams (6-4) shot 17-for-31 in the first half, while Pitt (7-3) made just eight first-half field goals and trailed 38-25. But the Panthers hit two free throws one second before halftime and went on a 15-2 run to get back in the game.
Besides scoring 17 points, Lilly had six rebounds for Virginia Commonwealth. Shawn Hampton and Bo Jones added 13 points each, and LaMar Taylor had 11.
Pitt's Ricardo Greer led all players with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Chris Seabrooks added 13 points.
