EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Chuck Moore hit five of his career-high six 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the final 9:58 as Seton Hall ended a six-game losing streak with a 77-61 win over Pittsburgh on Monday night.
Moore, a backup sophomore guard, finished with 22 points while freshman guard Ty Shine added a career-high 18 points as the Pirates (12-11, 6-8 Big East) ended their longest skid under second-year coach Tommy Amaker.
Seton Hall, which got the big performances from the underclassmen with point guard Shaheen Holloway sidelined with a neck injury, won the game by shooting 62 percent from the field in the second half, including seven of nine from 3-point range. Shine had the other two 3s.
Duane Jordan added 12 points and Rimas Kaukenas 11 for Seton Hall, which dressed just eight players.
Ricardo Greer had 19 points and Jarrett Lockhart 13 for Pittsburgh (11-12, 2-10). The Panthers, who are now 0-6 on the road in the conference, played without senior guard and leading scorer Vonteego Cummings for the second straight game because of back problems.
Seton Hall, which hit two of 21 3-pointers in a loss to Notre Dame on Saturday, took control of this one behind the long-range shooting of Shine and Moore.
Shine put the Pirates ahead for good, hitting two 3-pointers and scoring eight straight points for a 45-39 lead with 11:55 to go.
After Pittsburgh closed to 47-43, Moore hit three 3-pointers to keep the Pirates ahead 56-50.
Pittsburgh again got within four points, but Moore hit two free throws, another 3 and a short baseline jumper in an 11-5 burst to put the game away.
The Panthers hit 26 of 62 from the field, or 42 percent, but they were three of 15 from 3-point range.
