PITTSBURGH (AP) - Kelly Mazzante scored 32 points, the most ever by a Penn State freshman, as the 13th-ranked Lady Lions beat Pittsburgh 84-62 Saturday.
Mazzante has 65 points in Penn State's last three games, all wins.
She made 4-of-5 3-pointers and the Lady Lions (6-3) made 47 percent of their 3-point shots, compared with 20 percent for Pittsburgh (4-4).
The Lady Lions won despite having starters Maren Walseth and Rashana Barnes and reserve Ashley Luke foul out. Pittsburgh was unable to capitalize, however, making only 16 of 30 free throws.
Walseth had 14 points and nine rebounds and Lisa Shepherd added 12 points for the Lady Lions.
Bettina Love had 18 points for Pittsburgh. Reserve center Celeste Barkley sustained a stress fracture in an ankle and will miss two games.
Pittsburgh scored only 24 points in the first half - its fewest all season - and trailed 34-24 at the break.
