Carli Brill had a chance early in the first half of the game trying to get the Panthers on the board firing a rocket shot toward the Seton Hall goal but Pirate goalkeeper Amanda Becker made the save. Brill was involved in a series of passes and threatened again in the first half but was not able to find the back of the net. Early in the second half Brill made a great defensive stop, compromising her body and taking a shot to the face. Goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi then came out to gather the rebound and make the save.
Janean Gardner and Jennifer DeLaHoz connected passes near the goal but DeLaHoz's shot went over the goal. Gardner threatened again early in the second half firing a rocket shot towards the Seton Hall goal but Becker was able to make the save. Again the Panthers found themselves struggling to score.
Pirate Katie Herr put Seton Hall on the board with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute of the game. The Panther defense scrambled in front of the net but Herr's shot found the back of the net putting Seton Hall in the lead. Katherine De Tata increased the Pirate lead when she scored in the 69th minute of the game. De Tata's goal was assisted by Herr giving Seton Hall the 2-0 lead. The Pirate's second goal was orchestrated by numerous passes strung together in the midfield. Oriana Nierojewski connected with Herr who then fed the ball to De Tata. De Tata was able to get a shot past Pelusi on the ground.
"It really comes down to not putting away our chances," head coach Sue-Moy Chin said. "We need to find a way to score goals."
Pelusi made multiple diving saves and intercepted shots in the air but could not keep Seton Hall off the board. Pelusi made a save early in the first half, sacrificing her body, taking a shot to her face trying to keep the Panthers alive.
