The two teams competed for a grueling 110 minutes. After two scoreless halves of regulation the game went into double overtime with a final score of 0-0. The tie moves the Panthers to 2-2-1 on the season and the Kennesaw Owls move to 2-1-1.
Pitt was able to control most the play and set the tempo of the game but the Panthers were not able to finish any goals.
Goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi once again proved her excellent goaltending skills recording 10 saves. Pelusi kept the Panthers alive in the second overtime period when she displayed her acrobatic skills while stopping headers from Kennesaw players, Annie Phillips and Rebecca Hall. Carli Brill stepped up in the back keeping Kennesaw off the board and proving once again to be an unyielding wall of defense in front of Pelusi.
"We really dominated the control of the ball and the tempo of the game," Pitt head coach Sue-Moy Chin said. "Jamie had an excellent game and so did Carli Brill. Jamie faced a couple of really tough shots in overtime but was able to stop the shots and hold it together for our team. We are really coming along and this is a good rebound for us after Friday night's game. Although we just couldn't finish a goal I was really pleased with our effort."
The Panthers had some good scoring opportunities including eight corner kicks and 11 shots but were not able to get the ball into the back of the net. Meta Haley recorded five shots and senior Sara Gutting had an excellent chance to score in the first overtime period. Despite their efforts the Panthers could not get on the board.
