In Flight C singles consolation bracket, freshman Anne Piccirillo (Spring City, Pa.) lost to Alyssa Carlson (6-4, 2-6 (4)) but then went on to defeat Laura Hemlepp (6-3, 6-3). Later, junior Michele Petrasko (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) fell to Villanova's Ashley Reed (6-4, 7-5). Piccirillo went on to defeat Reed (6-4, 7-5) in the next round.
Junior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) fell to West Virginia's Monica Lyskawa (6-3, 6-2), and freshman Anna Broverman (Asbury, W.Va.) dropped a (6-2, 6-3) match against Villanova's Carla Erskine. Broverman later went on to earn a 6-3, 6-1 victory in her final match of the tournament.
Together, Piccirillo and Petrasko won their match against the duo of Hemlepp and Carlson (8-4), ending play in the semifinals of the Flight B doubles consolation poll.
The Panthers travel to Newport News, Va. this upcoming weekend, to compete in the Hampton Roads Invitational.
