PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh softball team has adopted a five-year-old girl from Western Pa., named Leah through the Friends of Jaclyn.
Leah has been battling a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (JPA) brain tumor. Since her diagnosis last February, she has had most of the tumor removed. Recent tests have shown no growth in the size of the remaining area.
The softball team welcomed the Royers into their Pitt family on Saturday March 21st. The team enjoyed spending time with them while learning about Leah’s brave battle.
Friends of Jaclyn is a non-profit organization that links children who are suffering with pediatric brain tumors with collegiate sports teams in order to provide support and friendships and help improve the quality of life for these children.
