For the second consecutive season, three Pitt women's soccer players garnered All-Big East accolades. Senior Liz Carroll and junior Katelyn Ruhe were named to the All-Big East Third Team while Caroline Keefer earned All-Big East Rookie Team honors.
"I'm so happy for all three," Pitt Head Coach Sue-Moy Chin said. "It's rewarding when the votes come from other coaches in the conference."
Carroll, who scored two goals and added seven assists this season, was named to the All-Big East Third Team for the second consecutive year. The senior finished her career at Pitt second on the all-time list for assists (11) and eighth all-time in goals (8). Her 33 career points ranks fifth on the Panthers all-time scoring list.
This season, Ruhe finished third in the Big East with nine assists and scored one goal - the game winner against Connecticut -- that clinched the Panthers' post-season berth. With her nine assists on the season, Ruhe became the all-time career assists leader, setting the program record with 14.
Earning her second award in as many days, Keefer was named to the All-Big East Rookie Team for her consistent play on defense. Keefer started in all 20 games this season and helped lead the Panthers to six shutouts. Yesterday, Keefer was named as one of the top 100 freshman to watch by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
"Liz did a great job in her time here at Pitt," added Chin. "With Katie and Caroline, we'll get them back next season and we know that good things lie ahead."
