BUFFALO, N.Y.—Playing at a neutral site, the University of Pittsburgh women’s tennis team dropped it’s Big East opener to St. John’s (5-2), this afternoon. The Panthers slipped to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in the league.
Senior Elizabeth Adams earned her 128th career win in singles action. Earning a two-set victory, Adams defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Adams is now seven victories behind Carlie Smith (2004-08), who is second in overall wins at 135.
Earlier in the day, Adams earned her 60th career doubles victory. That win ties Erin Shalbrack (60-41) for fifth overall in career doubles wins. Adams was paired with sophomore Gabrielle Catanzariti, where the duo tallied an 8-4 victory.
