Pitt Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision to Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer team was shut out 3-0 by homestanding Oakland University on Sunday.
The Panthers took more shots and had just one less shot on goal, but the Golden Grizzlies were able to take advantage of their opportunities. Oakland’s three scores came on six shots on goal.
Meghan Reynolds opened the scoring with a goal in the 20th minute to give the Golden Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. Serena San Cartier and Amy Trandell assisted on the goal.
Kyla Kellerman scored the next two goals for Oakland. The first came in the 54th minue off an assist from Marlen Knoph. She added an unassisted goal just over two minutes later.
The Panthers, who fall to 1-5-2 on the season, held a 15-13 advantage in shots. Ali Matisse led the way with three shots, while Ashley Cuba was tops on the team in shots on goal with two.
Oakland goalie Anne Berschbach recorded the shutout with five saves.
Pitt will begin play in the Big East on Thursday with an away match at Marquette. The Panthers will also host South Florida on Sunday as part of a Pitt men’s and women’s soccer doubleheader.
