
Pitt Concludes Action at 121st Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's track and field teams participated in four events on the fifth and final day of action at the 121st Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
After qualifying for the championship heat of the men's 4x400 meter relay on Friday, Christopher Tate, Desmond Palmer, Donnell Taylor and Brylan Slay combined to finish eighth overall in a time of 3:13.04. LSU won the event, followed by Texas A&M and Clemson.
The women's 4x200 meter relay team of Khyla Freeman, Evann Thompson, Julia Koloski and Alyssa Wise placed fifth in the ECAC Final and improved nearly three second from yesterday's time and crossed the line in 1:37.65.
The men's 4x200 meter relay team also finished fifth in the IC4A Final with a time of 1:27.08. The team of Tate, Slay, Dustin Fuller and Josh McDonald ran almost one second faster than yesterday.
Imani Brown was entered in the triple jump but withdrew from the event with an injury.
Side Note: Pitt had two former student-athletes represent Team USA at the Penn Relays
Brycen Spratling was featured on Team USA and helped the Americans win the USA vs. The World 4x400 Meter Relay. Spratling ran a split of 45.2 and together the team of Bryshon Nellum (USC grad), Spratling, Clayton Parros (North Carolina grad) and Patrick Feeney (Notre Dame grad) ran a time of 3:00.86.
Team USA beat the Bahamas by one second, while Jamaica, Brazil and Nigeria rounded out the top five.
On the women's side, Cambrya Jones helped USA narrowly defeat Jamaica in a photo finish in the USA vs. The World 4x200 Meter Relay. Jones teamed up with Leslie Cole, Tawanna Meadows and Porscha Lucas to run a time of 1:31.98. 
The Panthers now turn their attention to the Jesse Owen Classic next weekend hosted by Ohio State. That will be the final tune up for the ACC Championship Meet which is scheduled for May 14-16 in Tallahassee, Fla.
