Pitt Track and Field to Host Annual Blue-Gold Meet

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt track and field team will open its 2016-17 indoor slate by hosting the annual Blue-Gold Meet Friday and Saturday at Cost Center and Fitzgerald Field House, respectively.

The intrasquad meet will run from 2-5:30 p.m. Friday and continue Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Field events will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in Cost Center, featuring weight throw (2 p.m.), shot put (2:30 p.m.), pole vault (3:15 p.m.), high jump (4 p.m.) and long jump (4:45 p.m.).

Prelims for the 60m dash will begin with the men at 4:10 p.m., followed by the women at 4:20 p.m. The men's 60m hurdles will start at 4:35 p.m., with the women set for 4:45 p.m. Friday's events will conclude with the finals of the 60m as the men run at 5:15 p.m. and the women at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday's events at Fitzgerald Field House include the 150m run (10 a.m.), 500m (10:10 a.m.), 600m (10:30 a.m.), 300m (11:20 a.m.), and 4x400 (noon). Additionally, the Panthers will hold a 4x200 Alumni Run at 11:50 a.m.

On the men's side, the Panthers return 2015-16 All-ACC performers in Ashad Johnson-Conley (sprints/hurdles), Grant Jones (throws), Joshua McDonald (sprints), Desmond Palmer (hurdles) and Brylan Slay (sprints). Palmer represented Pitt at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in June, earning All-America second team honors.

The women return 2015-16 All-ACC honorees in Kelly Hayes (distance), Laila Ismail (hurdles) and Gillian Schriever (distance). Schriever recently closed out cross country season by becoming the first Pitt runner to compete at the National Championship meet since 2004. She earned All-ACC and All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors.
