PITTSBURGH - In a six team meet featuring only universities from the ACC and the Big Ten, the Pitt track and field team tallied multiple personal records at the Louisville Invitational.
"It was good to finally have the entire team together at the same meet," head coach Alonzo Webb said. "We continue to get better each week and it's nice to see some of the younger athletes put themselves higher on the ACC performance list. Desmond Palmer had a great day with massive lifetime bests in events that he doesn't always get to compete in. This team is a work in progress but I like the director they are moving in. They are beginning to understand and embrace our expectations."
Many athletes participated in races they don't primarily compete in, including Palmer who PR-ed in both the open 200 and 400 meter dash. He went 21.89 in the 200 and finished eighth overall, and then recorded a 47.01 in the open 400 to finish second overall. Donnell Taylor also ran a PR in the 400 in 47.20 and took third place overall.
Chris Tate had a lifetime best as he ran a 10.78 in the 100 meter dash at took second place.
Sprinter Alyssa Wise notched a pair of fifth place finishes in the 100 and 200, while matching her career-best in the 100 and setting a new career-best in the 200. Like last week, Wise ran an 11.65 in the 100, and then surpassed her time from last week in the 200 with a 24.02 today.
In the field, sophomore Andim Fosam launched a massive lifetime best in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.38m which placed her fourth overall.
