NEW ORLEANS - After making his third trip to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, junior Desmond Palmer of the Pitt track and field team has been tabbed second team All-America, as announced by the USTFCCCA Monday afternoon.
The Pitt hurdler garnered All-America honors for the third time in his career with first team accolades a year ago and second team recognition as a freshman and junior.
Palmer successfully defended his ACC 400 meter hurdles title this season and earned a qualifying spot to NCAAs after running a 50.22 at the NCAA East Prelims. Last week at Historic Hayward Field, the Pickerington, Ohio native fell short in the prelims, running a 50.21 and did not make the finals.
Pitt's 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Palmer, seniors Donnell Taylor and Chris Tate and junior Brylan Slay earned honorable mention All-America honors as well.
