Pitt Kicks off Road Swing with Boston College

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team will hit the road this weekend, traveling to Boston College for the first of a two-game ACC road trip.
Kick off in Newton, Mass., is set for 7 p.m. as the Panthers are in search of their first conference victory of the season.

LEADING OFF
- Pitt (1-7-1) will kick off a two-game ACC road trip Thursday evening, traveling to Boston College (8-1-1)
- The Panthers enter the weekend following a 1-0 loss to Louisville to open league play, dropping the one-goal decision at Ambrose Urbanic Field Sunday night
- In the loss, Panther goalie Taylor Francis made five saves, as she now sits at third all-time in Pitt history with 282 career stops
- The Eagles are also coming off of a loss, falling to ninth-ranked Duke by a score of 3-2 in Durham, N.C., Saturday evening
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
- The Eagles are receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Weekly Poll, checking in with five tallies, down from the 22 they received last week
- The loss to Duke was the first of the season for Boston College, as it opened the year with a mark of 8-0-1 in non-league play
- An offensive juggernaut, Boston College leads the ACC and ranks second nationally in shots on goal per game (10.7) and ranks second in the ACC and third nationally in shots per game (22.3)
- McKenzie Meehan leads the Eagles with eight goals, adding two assists for 18 total points, while Hayley Dowd and Kayla Jennings have tallied five and four goals, respectively
- In net, Alexis Bryant has made the start in nine contests for the Eagles, and leads the squad with 18 saves, a 0.37 GAA and four shutouts
- Bryant, however, will be ineligible for Thursday's contest as she was awarded a red card in the Duke match, making way for Erin Seppi, who has started and played in three contests this season
SERIES WITH BOSTON COLLEGE
- This will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two squads in a series dating back to the 1997 season
- Boston College has swept the all-time series and holds an 8-0-0 advantage over the Panthers
- The matchup will be the fourth as members of the ACC, as Boston College is outscoring Pitt by a mark of 8-2 in ACC competition
UP NEXT
- Pitt will continue its road swing Sunday afternoon, traveling to Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. meeting with the 24th-ranked Fighting Irish
- The Panthers will return home on Saturday, Oct. 1, welcoming reigning ACC champion and third-ranked Florida State at 2 p.m. to Ambrose Urbanic Field
