MIAMI—The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team conceded three second-half goals and fell to Miami 3-0 in ACC action on Thursday evening.
The Panthers (3-10-3, 0-7-1 ACC) and Hurricanes (5-9, 1-7 ACC) played a scoreless stalemate in the first half. But Miami struck in the 49th, 64th and 82nd minutes, courtesy goals from Jamie Brunworth followed by a pair from Grace Rupp to settle the match.
Amaia Pena earned the start in goal for the Panthers and finished with four saves, including one fantastic stop with her legs just before the break.
Pitt outshot the Hurricanes by a 17-16 margin, with Alli Higgs attempting a game-high six shots, but the Panthers were unable to convert any of their chances into goals.
UP NEXT
Pitt finishes up its road trip to the Sunshine State with a matchup at Florida State on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Panthers close out the regular season at home on Oct. 26, hosting Boston College.
