
Panthers Head to NC State for EAGL Championships

Pitt Meet Notes
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team will travel to Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday in the hopes of becoming back-to-back champions. The Panthers will square off against NC State, UNC, George Washington, New Hampshire and Towson in the annual conference meet.
The meet is set for 2 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.

THE MEET
The University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team will face off against each of their conference foes as they battle for the EAGL Championship. The Panthers come in ranked sixth in the conference, but with six all-conference gymnasts, the Panthers are looking to defend their EAGL title.
The Panthers are looking to bounce back after a 196.300-194.200 away loss to #20 Auburn last Friday. Senior Tracey Pearson led the way for the Panthers in the meet, putting up a 9.825 in the vault, landing her a second place finish.
SCOUTING NC STATE
NC State (9-12) will be hosting the EAGL Championship in Reynolds Coliseum where the Wolfpack is 4-6 on the season. NC State has a regional qualifying score of 194.820 this season, which places them amongst the top-50 programs in the country.
In their last meet, the Wolfpack faced off against Yale, Stanford, and George Washington. NC State put up a score of 194.825 and had a top-five finisher in each event of the meet. The Wolfpack are led by Paris Phillips and Chelsea Knight who both have 17 top-3 finishes each on the season.
SERIES WITH NC STATE
This will be the 43rd all-time meeting between the programs and the second time they have met this season. NC State hosted Pitt earlier this season in a 195.025-194.075 loss for the Panthers. Last season NC State fell to Pitt as the Panthers claimed their first conference championship in program history. The Wolfpack have an 8-34 all-time advantage against the Panthers.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina (11-4) comes in ranked 33rd with an RQS of 195.430. The Tar Heels have been on a tear since dropping their first meet against Florida, ranking third in the EAGL with a mark of 5-1 in conference action.
In their last meet, the Tar Heels fell to No. 3 UCLA in a meet that saw multiple UNC gymnasts put up perfect scores. North Carolina is led by Junior Morgan Lane who put up a season high 39.375 in the all-around against UCLA.
SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA
The two programs have met 37 times before, with this being the third meeting of the season alone. North Carolina holds the historical advantage with a 26-11 record. In their last meeting, UNC was victorious with a score of 195.675 while Pitt recorded a 194.075.
Prior to that, UNC had already earned a victory over Pitt with a 194.925-194.450 victory in January. UNC has now won the last four meets against the Panthers.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The George Washington Colonials come in with a 24-4 record and a No. 18 ranking. The Colonials have the highest RQS in the EAGL with a score of 196.305 and are mathematically locked into a NCAA Regional bid.
In their last meet, the Colonials took first place in a quad meet while putting up a score of 196.50. George Washington managed to sweep the all-around with Junior Cami Drouin-Allaire taking first place overall with a score of 39.375. Drouin-Allaire also managed to secure two individual event titles in the Vault and Floor exercises.
SERIES WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON
This will be the 29th all-time meeting between the Panthers and Colonials with their first meeting taking place during the 1991 season. Pitt is the series leader with a record of 16-12 against George Washington all-time.
The two teams last met earlier this season with the Colonials coming out victorious. The Panthers had a season-best score of 194.725, but George Washington recorded a 195.850 which was good enough for second place in the five-way meet.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The New Hampshire Wildcats come in with a 17-5 record and the 27th highest RQS in the nation with a score of 195.745. They also hold a 2-2 record in-conference which combined with their RQS is good enough for second in the conference.
In their last meet, New Hampshire faced LSU that saw the Wildcats fall to the Tigers 197.875-195.300. Senior Meghan Pflieger led the way for the Wildcats, putting up a career-high score of 9.850 on the uneven bars.
SERIES WITH NEW HAMPSHIRE
This will be the 68th time the Panthers and Wildcats meet in a series that dates back to 1980. New Hampshire currently holds a 49-18-0 all-time lead over Pitt. However, Pitt has won two of their last three meetings.
In their last meeting earlier this season, New Hampshire emerged victorious while posting a score of 195.425 to Pitt's 191.675.
SCOUTING TOWSON
The Towson Tigers hold a 9-12 record and an RQS of 194.755. The Tigers also come in hot after securing a victory in their last meet.
To close out their regular season, the Tigers secured victories over both Brockport and Cornell. Towson scored a 194.625 with 15 top five performances. The Tigers also matched their season-high in the Floor Exercise with a score of 49.275.
SERIES WITH TOWSON
This will be the 38th time the two programs have met in a series that has existed for nearly thirty years. Towson holds the winning record in the series all-time 23-14, but the Panthers secured an upset over the Tigers earlier this season.
In their last meeting, the Panthers came out on top over the then-ranked #15 Towson Tigers by posting a score of 195.375. In the meet the Panthers set two season-highs in the Vault and beam. Towson last secured a victory over Pitt on Jan. 30, 2016.
