PITTSBURGH – Pitt women's basketball (9-12, 1-7 ACC) will host its 11th annual Pink The Petersen game with a 2 p.m. tipoff against No. 18/18 Duke (16-5, 5-3 ACC) Sunday at Petersen Events Center.
A portion from each ticket sold will be donated to Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh. Fans will receive a free Pink The Petersen T-shirt while supplies last. Breast cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized on the court at halftime.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with pre-game activities including inflatables, airbrush tattoo artists, balloon artists, face painters, Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh information tables and activities, a poster making station and more. There will be post-game autographs on the court with the team.

ELEVEN YEARS OF PINK THE PETERSEN
- Sunday will mark Pitt's 11th Pink The Petersen game, with proceeds being donated each year to breast cancer research and charities. The event was introduced Feb. 17, 2008, when the then 18th-ranked Panthers took on the No. 2 Connecticut Huskies. The Panthers own a 4-6 record when hosting the game.
- Below is an all-time list of results, including overall attendance:
- Feb. 17, 2008 - vs. No. 2 Connecticut (L, 90-64) – 6,253
- Feb. 21, 2009 - vs. Cincinnati (W, 68-53) – 6,443
- Feb. 14, 2010 - vs. Louisville (W, 72-69) – 4,168
- Feb. 19, 2011 - vs. No. 21 West Virginia (L, 90-79) – 5,368
- Feb. 25, 2012 - vs. Seton Hall (L, 63-39) – 2,814
- Feb. 23, 2013 - vs. Georgetown (L, 72-70) – 3,090
- Feb. 16, 2014 - vs. Clemson (W, 56-43) – 3,305
- Jan. 24, 2015 - vs. Boston College (W, 78-70) – 3,921
- Feb. 21, 2016 - vs. No. 23 Syracuse (L, 70-56) – 4,151
- Feb. 26, 2017 - vs. No. 20/21 Syracuse (L, 73-57) – 4,212
- Last season's edition brought in the highest attendance (4,212) for the event since the Panthers hosted West Virginia for the promotion in 2011 (5,368). The Panthers' record attendance for Pink The Petersen was 6,443 against Cincinnati in 2009.
- Attendance by breast cancer survivors has increased every year for at least the last four years:
- 2014 – 187 survivors
- 2015 – 230 survivors
- 2016 – 242 survivors
- 2017 – 309 survivors
- Over the last three years, Pitt has donated a total of $4,470 to Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh raised through the Pink The Petersen event.
A FULL DAY AHEAD
- Five cancer survivors/fighters will join Pitt's starting lineup Sunday, including:
- Starter No. 1: Cancer survivor of 14 years, from Midlothian, Va., Donna Porada
- Mother of Pitt women's basketball athletic trainer Ann Marie Porada
- Starter No. 2: Cancer survivor of three years, from Bethel Park, Pa., Donna Brooks
- Starter No. 3: Cancer fighter receiving treatment every three weeks, from Lower Burrell, Pa., Kim Gerthoffer
- Starter No. 4: Cancer survivor of seven years, from Pittsburgh, Pa., Clare Rex
- Starter No. 5: Cancer survivor of six years, from Pittsburgh, Pa., Sister Kathy McGrady
- Aunt of head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio and associate head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller (mother's sister)
- Member of the Order of the Sisters of Charity
- Starter No. 1: Cancer survivor of 14 years, from Midlothian, Va., Donna Porada
- Veteran WTAE-TV anchor, Pitt alumna and Pittsburgh Magazine's 2017 Pittsburgher of the Year Kelly Frey will be a guest at Sunday's game. Frey has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer since March 2017.
- Breast cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized on the court at halftime. Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh CEO Kathy Purcell will address the crowd.
WELCOME BACK!
- Pitt women's basketball alumnae in attendance will be recognized on the court during a timeout.
