Panthers Close Out Home Season Sunday Against Notre Dame
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team fell to No. 14 Florida State 4-0 Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Pitt (4-10-1, 0-8-0 ACC) fell behind 1-0 in the 15th minute before Florida State (11-3-2, 4-3-1 ACC) added on a late goal to take a 2-0 lead heading in to the half. The Seminoles would add two more in the second half, securing a 4-0 victory.
"Credit Mark [Krikorian] and his group, we knew going in they are phenomenal and he looks like he's got another Final Four team there in the making," said head coach Randy Waldrum. "You know, this is what our kids need to see because this is where we want to go and build the program to and a great example to play against. I actually thought the kids overall were pretty good for the most part defensively, but as has been the case all year we kind of made those key mistakes that we get punished for."
Freshman keeper Katherine Robinson made seven saves in her first game back from injury, as the Panthers succumbed to a hot Florida State offense.
The Panthers return to action Sunday at 1 p.m., hosting Notre Dame in the final home game of the 2018 regular season. The game will serve as Senior Day as the Panthers honor six graduating seniors. Pitt will close out the regular season next Thursday when it travels to Boston to face No. 11 Boston College.
