Pitt Hosts Virginia Tech Friday, Travels to Georgia Tech Sunday
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team (4-4, 0-2 ACC) is set to host Virginia Tech (4-4, 0-1 ACC) Friday, Feb. 22 at Noon at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa. The Panthers will then travel to Atlanta, Ga., to take on the 31st-ranked Yellow Jackets (3-3, 0-0 ACC) Sunday, Feb. 24 at Noon.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers picked up their fourth win of the year after defeating Bowling Green, 5-2, Saturday, Feb. 16 in Wexford.
- Pitt clinched the doubles point and earned four singles victories en route to the victory.
- Three Panthers recorded their 11th singles wins respectively Saturday, including sophomore Claudia Bartolome (11-8), and seniors Gabriela Rezende (11-9) and Luisa Varon (11-7).
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
- Pitt and Virginia Tech clash for the eighth time in program history Friday.
- The Hokies lead the all-time series 7-0 and defeated the Panthers, 6-1, a year ago in Blacksburg, Va.
- Virginia Tech comes to Pittsburgh with a 4-4 overall record and is on a three-match win streak.
- The Hokies most recently defeated Radford Feb. 13, 7-0, and put up the same score against Marshall (Feb. 10) and Delaware (Feb. 10).
- Virginia Tech finished the 2018 season 14-12 overall with a 3-11 mark against ACC opponents.
- The Hokies advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2018 ACC Championships after defeating Louisville and Florida State. They were knocked out of the tournament after falling to Miami in the quarterfinals.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
- Pitt faces its first ranked opponent of the year in No. 31 Georgia Tech Sunday.
- The Jackets are 3-3 overall and open ACC play Sunday. Prior to hosting the Panthers, GT will take on No. 1 Georgia Saturday, Feb. 23 in Athens.
- In their last time out, the Jackets went 2-0 last weekend defeating Georgia State, 7-0, Feb. 15 and then-ranked No. 11 Northwestern, 5-2, Feb. 17.
- Following the back-to-back wins, Freshman Valeriya Deminova was named ACC Player of the Week while Jeanette Lin was named ACC Freshman of the Week.
- Junior Kenya Jones is Georgia Tech's lone ranked singles player, checking in at No. 24 this week. Jones is also ranked in doubles alongside Lin as the pair rank No. 33 in the country.

- Pitt continues conference action when it hosts No. 18 Miami Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m. and No. 12 Florida State Sunday, March 2 at 11 a.m.
