
Panthers Host Two Ranked ACC Foes This Weekend

Pitt Tennis to meet No. 19 Miami and No. 15 Florida State
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team is set to host No. 19 Miami and No. 15 Florida State at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa., this weekend.
The Panthers (4-6, 0-4 ACC) and the Hurricanes (6-3, 0-2 ACC) will face off at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1. Pitt then returns to Wexford Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m. to meet the Seminoles (9-2, 1-1 ACC).

LAST TIME OUT
- Last weekend, Pitt dropped back-to-back matches to Virginia Tech, 5-2, and then-ranked No. 31 Georgia Tech, 7-0.
- Friday afternoon, the Hokies took the lead early after clinching the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles.
- Moving into singles, Virginia Tech claimed four consecutive wins to decide the match, 5-0.
- Bartolome and Rezende recorded wins for the Panthers at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
- Sunday afternoon the Panthers dropped a 7-0 decision at Georgia Tech.
- The Yellow Jackets earned the advantage entering singles with back-to-back wins on No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
- The Panthers fought hard in singles, but ultimately dropped all matches, with two ending with tiebreakers.
SCOUTING THE HURRICANES
- The Panthers and Hurricanes will clash for just the sixth time in program history.
- Miami leads the series 5-0, defeating the Panthers 4-0 in the last meeting one year ago in Florida.
- The Hurricanes have two conferences losses on the season, with their most recent coming against No. 3 Duke in Coral Gables.
- Seventh-ranked junior Estela Perez-Somarriba leads the Hurricanes. Against Duke, Perez-Somarriba recorded her ninth consecutive victory and her second top-30 win in three matches.
- To end the 2018 season, the Hurricanes made their 12th trip to the Sweet 16 NCAA Team Championship, where they dropped their final match of the season to then-ranked No. 2 Vanderbilt, 4-0.
- Miami concluded their season 18-8 overall and 11-3 in ACC play.
SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES
- Pitt and Florida State meet for the seventh time on Sunday. The Seminoles lead the all-time series 6-0.
- In their last meeting, the Panthers dropped a 7-0 decision in Tallahassee, Fla.
- The Seminoles also have just one ACC loss on the season. Similar to the Hurricanes, their lone loss comes from a meeting last weekend with Duke, 5-2.
- Friday night against Duke, Florida State earned an early advantage clinching the doubles point. Entering singles, the Blue Devils won four consecutive matchups, deciding the match, 4-1.
- The Seminoles continued to fight, earning another team point with a singles win at the No. 4 spot.
- Junior Carla Touly maintains her No. 32 ranking this season with her fifth consecutive doubles win with senior Ariana Rahmanparast at the No. 2 spot. Touly has also earned two ranked singles wins this season, improving her record to 3-2 at No. 1 and 2-0 at No. 2.
- Florida State concluded the 2018 campaign with its first trip to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Team Championship in program history. The Seminoles finished with a 21-9 record overall with a 9-5 mark in ACC play.

- The Panthers have a weekend off before hitting the road for matches against FAU Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m. in Boca Raton, Fla. and No. 3 Duke Sunday, March 17, at 12 p.m. in Durham, NC.
