Pitt Set for Pair of Road Matches
PITTSBURGH – After having a week off, the University of Pittsburgh tennis team resumes action this weekend with a pair of road matches at FAU and No. 3 Duke.
The Panthers first take on the Owls (6-7) Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the FAU Tennis Complex in Boca Raton, Fla., in the final non-conference match of the season. Pitt then resumes conference play when it travels to Durham, N.C., Sunday, March 17 to take on the No. 3 Blue Devils (11-2, 3-1 ACC) at Ambler Tennis Stadium at Noon.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers dropped a pair of ACC matches to two Florida teams the first week of March in No. 19 Miami, 5-2, and No. 15 Florida State, 6-1.
- Against the Hurricanes March 1, freshman Mariona Perez Noguera and sophomore Claudia Bartolome recorded wins in singles play.
- Senior Natsumi Okamoto was the lone Pitt player to record a win over her FSU opponent March 3.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
- FAU enters the weekend 6-7 overall after shutting out LIU Brooklyn, 4-0, Thursday, March 14.
- The Owls are led by Martina Kudelova with nine singles wins on the year. Kudelova was tabbed C-USA Athlete of the Week Wednesday, March 13.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
- Prior to hosting the Panthers Sunday, Duke will take on Wake Forest Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m.
- The Blue Devils, who rank No. 3 for the second consecutive week in the Oracle/ITA Division I team rankings, boast an overall record of 11-2 with a 3-1 mark against ACC foes.
- Duke finished the 2018 season with a runner-up finish at the ACC Tournament and ended the season in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships.
- Three Blue Devils are currently ranked in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings in #18 Maria Mateas, #19 Meible Chi and #23 Kelly Chen.
- Duke has three doubles teamed ranked in the Oracle/ITA rankings in #24 Kaitlyn McCarthy/Ellyse Hamlin, #34 Meible Chi/Kaitlyn McCarthy and #80 Margaryta Bilokin/Maria Mateas.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Panthers return to Pittsburgh to host Virginia Friday, March 22 at 3 p.m. at the Oxford Athletic Club.
