
Panthers Welcome Holy Cross Wednesday Afternoon For Non-Conference Finale

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (8-4, 0-2 ACC) will close out their non-conference slate Wednesday afternoon as they welcome the Holy Cross Crusaders to the Petersen Events Center for a 12:00 pm tip on ACC Network Extra. The Panthers will be looking to finish the non-conference season with a 9-2 record, their best in non-conference play since going 14-3 in 2006-07.

- Wednesday's game will be the toy drive game at the Pete as anyone who brings an unwrapped toy will receive a free ticket to the game. The toys will then be donated to underprivileged children in the Pittsburgh area.

- This marks the second meeting of all-time between the two teams with the Panthers winning the lone matchup on Dec. 6, 2015 by the score of 56-50 at the Pete.
- The Panthers also own a 18-3 record against teams from the Patriot League all-time.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has paid off in a major way. Pitt currently ranks 5th in the NCAA rebounds per game (46.7), 6th in total rebounds (560), 11th in defensive rebounds per game (31.0) and 27th in offensive rebounds per game (15.7). The Panthers have posted four games with 50+ rebounds this season, the most in a season for them since 2009-10.
- Pitt has been able to get to the free throw line at a high rate as they rank 3rd in the NCAA in free throw attempts (276) while ranking 12th in free throws made (173). Junior Amber Brown leads the ACC and ranks 13th in the NCAA in free throw attempts (72).
- Pitt returns home Wednesday afternoon to close out their non-conference slate as they welcome Holy Cross for a 12pm tip at the Pete. Wednesday's game will air on ACC Network Extra.
- Senior Jayla Everett has led Pitt in scoring in five of her nine games while averaging a team-high 15.3 ppg, which ranks sixth in the ACC. Everett has connected on a team-high 22 three-pointers on the year. She has made multiple triples in 23 of her 28 career games as a Panther.
- The Panthers depth has been very evident as Pitt and Duke are the only two teams in the ACC that have at least 10 players averaging 3.3 ppg or more on the year.
- Entering Wednesday's game, Pitt has upped their rebounds per game average from 33.1 in 2017-18 (before White arrived) to 46.7 this season (+13.6 rpg), the biggest jump in the nation over the span (from 2018-19 to present).
- Pitt was ranked 325th in the NCAA in rebounds per game prior to White's arrival in 2017-18 and is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA in rebounds per game this season, a 320 spot improvement and biggest in the country.
- The biggest area of development from last season to this season on the glass has been on the defensive end of the court. Pitt is averaging 31.0 defensive rebounds per game this season, +5.4 defensive rebounds per game from a season ago.
