Pitt Drops ACC Opener at Clemson

Hagans Jr. Posts Career-High 23 Points
CLEMSON, S.C. – Theresa Hagans Jr. scored a career-high 23 points in a career-high 35 minutes of action as Pitt (6-6, 0-1 ACC) fell to Clemson (7-4, 1-1 ACC) in the Panthers' ACC opener, 73-41.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pitt jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind a layup and an and-one by Theresa Hagans Jr. but Clemson closed the period on a 17-0 run to bring a 22-9 lead into the second period. The Tigers connected on five three-pointers in the second frame to extend their lead to 41-19 at halftime. Clemson capitalized on second-chance points and turnovers as they continued to build their lead in the second half. Pitt continued to battle in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 13–10 in the final frame, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
In addition to Hagans' game leading 23 points, the freshman from Utica, NY added three steals, two rebounds and two assists. Megan Hollingsworth matched her career-high in rebounds with six, while Fatima Diakhate contributed eight points, four boards and two assists. Mikayla Johnson chipped in seven points and two rebounds.

Pitt will play their final home game of 2025 on Thursday, Dec. 18 against Saint Francis. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
