Uri Arnon Breaks 46-Year-Old Triple Jump Program Record at the Penn Classic

PHILADELPHIA – Pitt track and field had a successful two days at the Penn Classic, highlighted by Uri Arnon's record breaking performance in the triple jump. Arnon surpassed Larry Kinney's distance of 15.45-meters in the event, set in 1980.

FRIDAY RECAP
- Somiyah Braggs dashed to fourth place in the 60-meter race with a speed of 7.49.
- Che Nwabuko also earned fourth on the men's side, stopping the clock in 6.74.
- Antwan James ran an 8.28 time in the 60-meter hurdles prelims to qualify for the finals where he recorded a time of 8.19 for fifth place.
- Madisyn Hawkins finished sixth in the women's weight throw with a 17.28-meter mark.
- Mark Haynesworth Jr. threw for a personal best 15.88-meters in the men's weight throw to finish eighth.
- Taylor Forbes leaped a personal best 5.69-meters in the long jump for 10th place overall.
- Freshman Josiah Montgomery secured fourth place in the men's shot put with a 17.48-meter mark while sophomore Emeka Ugwu followed in seventh with his 17.07-meter toss.
SATURDAY RECAP
- Both Nolan McGinn and Cole Casadei recorded personal bests to start Saturday's action. McGinn completed the 3K in 8:29.72 for fourth place while Casadei clocked in at 8:36.51 for seventh in the race.
- Elizabeth Szybalski's time of 5:10.33 earned her seventh in the women's mile.
- In the women's 400-meter invitational, Jana Bruses sought seventh with her 56.34 time while Alexandria Scott recorded a personal best 56.43 for ninth. Alma Evuna Eki also recorded a personal best, 57.56.
- Colin Kravitz competed in the men's 400-meter invitational, recorded a season's best time of 47.78, receiving fourth place.
- Malachi Williams earned fourth, one place behind Che Nwabuko, in the 200-meter race with a personal best 21.45.

Pitt will be back in action next weekend, competing at a multitude of meets, Boston University David Hemery Invitational, Clemson Tiger Paw, and Youngstown State Last Chance Invitational.
