Panthers Welcome No. 3 Georgia Tech for First Home ACC Series

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (14-4, 2-1 ACC) return home from their seven-game West Coast road trip to host No. 3 ranked Georgia Tech (17-4, 4-2 ACC) in their first home ACC series of the season.
The Panthers are coming off of an ACC series win at Stanford this past weekend. It was the first time since 2021 that Pitt won their opening ACC series.
Top of the Order.
• OF Lorenzo Carrier won nearly every national weekly award for his performance at the plate two weeks ago. Carrier was named the Golden Spikes National Player of the Week, Dick Howser Trophy National Co-Hitter of the Week, Perfect Game National Player of the Week, ACC Player of the Week and was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week.
• In Pitt's last nine games, Lorenzo Carrier is 24-for-32 (.750) with 31 RBIs, 21 runs scored, 9 home runs, 3 doubles, 2 triples and 58 total bases. He is hitting .516 this year with 43 RBI and an ACC-leading 1.145 SLG.
• Carrier is one of the best hitters in the country through the first five weeks of the season. He ranks 2nd the country in AVG (.516), RBI (43), SLG (1.145), OBP (.644) and 7th in TB (71).
• Pitt's offense is also off to a scorching start. They rank 3rd in the country in scoring (10.7), 4th in OBP (.474), 7th in SLG (.585) and 11th in AVG (.339).
• The Panther pitching staff leads the ACC in Walks Per Nine Innings (2.76). They rank 2nd in the ACC and 18th in the country in Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio (3.09).
• Pitt has worked 148 walks this season, ranking them second in the entire country. Lorenzo Carrier has walked 23 times, leading the team and ranking third in the ACC.
• Pitt leadoff man AJ Nessler is hitting .365 with 43 total bases, 27 hits, 29 run scored, 14 RBIs and three home runs so far this season. He's recorded multiple hits in 11 games this year.
• The Panthers welcomed 21 newcomers to campus for the 2026 season - among them are 16 transfers and five freshmen.
• Head Coach Mike Bell and the Panthers ushered in a new coaching staff in 2026, hiring Luke Bonfield, Sky Duff and Clay Martin.
