Pitt Falls at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Pitt women's lacrosse fell to Syracuse 16-7 Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, extending the advantage to 10-1 by halftime. Pitt found its footing late, scoring five of the final six goals in the fourth quarter to close out the afternoon. Kaitlyn Giandonato led the Panthers with three goals and Avery Moon added a goal and three assists. Emily Clemens scored twice and Maureen McNierney chipped in a goal and an assist. Molly Cain made five saves in net.
GAME NOTES
- Giandonato's three goals give her 33 on the season.
- McNierney's goal was the 10th of her season.
- Moon's three assists give her 21 on the season.
- Pitt won the draw battle 18-7, with Aidan Carr controlling nine on the day.
UP NEXT
The Panthers return home to Highmark Stadium Tuesday to host James Madison. First draw is set for 2 p.m. Admission is free for all fans.
