PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh women's basketball head coach Robin Harmony announced the addition of Randy Javier Schneider as associate head coach and Greg Long as assistant coach on Wednesday. Both join Harmony after serving on her staff at the College of Charleston last season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Randy and Greg to Pittsburgh," Harmony said. "Both bring tremendous experience, strong recruiting ties and a passion for developing student-athletes on and off the court. They are high-character individuals who align perfectly with the culture we are building for Pitt women's basketball."
The 2026-27 campaign will mark Schneider's 20th year alongside Harmony. During their seven seasons at Charleston, Schneider played a key role in the program's rise, culminating in a historic 27-win campaign in 2025-26 that saw the Cougars capture both the CAA regular season and tournament titles.
A native of Miami, Fla., Schneider was instrumental in recruiting and developing standout guard Taryn Barbot, the 2025 and 2026 CAA Player of the Year and 2024 CAA Rookie of the Year. Barbot became the fastest player in program history – men's or women's – to reach 1,000 points, accomplishing the milestone during her sophomore season.
Schneider helped guide Charleston to three consecutive 20-plus win seasons beginning in 2023-24, including back-to-back 25-win campaigns to close out his tenure in the lowcountry.
Prior to Charleston, Schneider spent six seasons (2013-2019), as associate head coach under Harmony at Lamar. The Cardinals posted a 115-68 record during that stretch, including three 20-win seasons and a 24-7 mark in 2018-19 en route to a Southland Conference regular season title and a second consecutive WNIT appearance.
Under Schneider's leadership, Lamar became one of the nation's top defensive teams, leading the country in steals, turnovers forced and turnover margin over his final three seasons. He also helped develop Chastadie Barrs, a four-time Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year and AP Honorable Mention All-American, who set NCAA Division I records for single season (192) and career steals (632).
Schneider also spent six seasons at St. Thomas (Fla.) as an assistant under Harmony, where the Bobcats compiled a 132-48 record and made three NAIA National Championship appearances.
Schneider earned a bachelor's degree in education, graduating cum laude from Florida International University in 1998. He and his wife, Jennifer, have one daughter, Taylor.
Long arrives at Pitt after one season at Charleston, where he helped lead the Cougars to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Prior to Charleston, Long served as head coach of the Mississippi College, guiding the program to two winning seasons and three conference tournament appearances over five years.
He previously held a head coaching role at Arkansas-Monticello (2019-20), where he led the team to a 20-11 record and the program's best start since 1977. The Boll Weevils reached 20 wins for the first time in over a decade with Long at the helm.
From 2015-2019, Long was the associate head coach at the University of Central Arkansas, helping the Bears compile a 91-37 record and capture four Southland Conference Tournament titles. The program also recorded three 25-win seasons and advanced to the WBI Championship game in 2018.
Long began his collegiate coaching career at Delta State (2010-12), where he helped the Lady Statesmen to a 50-11 record, two conference titles and consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. The 2010-11 team spent seven weeks ranked No. 1 nationally and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament that season.
Long, a Delta State alumnus, and his wife, Jill, have two children, Aubree and Clay.
