COLUMBUS, Ohio – Pitt dropped a 9-1 decision to Ohio State Wednesday evening at Buckeye Field. Tieley Vaughn led the Panther offense, going 2-for-3 with one run scored.

Pitt struck first in the opening inning. Vaughn led off with a single and Ahmari Braden was hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard. The Panthers executed a double steal to move both into scoring position, and Vaughn crossed the plate on a groundout from KK Esparza to give Pitt a 1-0 advantage.

Ohio State responded with a four-run fourth inning to take control. Abbie Wilhelm tied the game with a solo home run before a single and a walk set the table for KiKi Estrada's three-run homer, pushing the Buckeyes in front 4-1.

The Panthers threatened in the top of the third, loading the bases as Calle Henne and Camryn Murphy each drew walks and Addison Toczek beat the throw to first for an infield single. Pitt was unable to capitalize as Shelby Frazier was retired on a groundout to end the inning with three runners stranded.

Ohio State added four more runs in the bottom of the third to extend its lead. Emma Tolley launched a solo home run, and Izzy Neal followed with an infield home run after a ball to left field rolled to the fence. The Buckeyes added another run on a wild pitch to make it 9-1.

Ohio State finished with eight hits, including four home runs, while Pitt tallied five hits and left seven runners on base. Jenna Molk earned the win in the circle, and Bekah Duck was charged with the loss.

Pitt continues its road trip with a three-game series at Louisville beginning Friday, April 17.
