Panthers Visit Virginia Tech in Blacksburg

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (23-12, 6-9 ACC) head to Blacksburg, VA this weekend for an ACC matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies (17-18, 7-11 ACC).
Pitt swept Virginia Tech when they met at Charles L. Cost Field last season and have won two of their last three series with the Hokies.
Top of the Order
• Pitt got back in the win column on Wednesday night with a 13-2 victory over the Akron Zips. The Panthers hit five home runs in the win, four of which came in the fifth inning.
• SS Caden Dulin has recorded a hit in each of the last 15 games. He is batting .354 with 41 runs scored, 30 RBI, nine doubles, seven home runs and a team-leading 46 hits. Dulin was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week two weeks ago.
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the country in base on balls (260), rank second in OBP (.454), third in home runs per game (2.14), fifth in SLG (.579) and scoring (9.6), sixth in home runs (75) and 10th in runs scored (337).
• The Panther offense has slugged 75 home runs so far this season. They have driven in 139 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and fourteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt is five home runs shy of breaking the single-season program record.
• Lorenzo Carrier ranks second in the country in SLG (.855), third in walks (40) and sixth in RBI (54) and OBP (.555). He earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 260. OF Lorenzo Carrier's 40 lead the ACC and rank third in the country. The Panthers tied a season-high with 13 walks in Wednesday's win.
• Pitt has won each of their ACC series on the road this season (at Stanford & at Louisville).
