TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Despite holding an early lead on Sunday afternoon, the Pitt Panthers (28-18, 10-14 ACC) fell in their series finale at No. 14 Florida State (33-14, 15-9 ACC), 6-4.

AJ Nessler had his second two-hit game of the weekend, going 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Trey Fenderson drove in the first run of the ballgame and finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI. Shortstop Caden Dulin collected his fifth hit of the weekend on an RBI single in the fourth inning. He leads the team in hits with 65.

On the mound, Drew Lafferty gave the Panthers a quality 4.1 innings on Sunday. In relief, Freddy Beruvides Jr. struck out one batter in his scoreless inning.

Trey Fenderson gave the Panthers an early lead with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Caden Dulin began the inning with a one-out walk and moved up to third on a pair of Seminole miscues before scoring on Fenderson's RBI base hit.

AJ Nessler added a run in the top of the second on a solo blast to right. Florida State got a run back in the bottom half of the inning as the Panthers led 2-1 through two.

The Panthers plated two runs in the fourth to take a three-run lead. Walks from Sebastian Pisacreta and Derrick Tarpley Jr. put runners on first and second for the top of the order. AJ Nessler hit a groundball to the pitcher who airmailed his throw to second into center field, allowing Pisacreta to score from second. Cade Dulin came up in the ensuing at-bat and drove in Tarpley Jr. on an RBI single to left.

Drew Lafferty continued to keep the Seminole offense at bay through four innings as Pitt led 4-2 heading into the fifth.

Florida State plated one run in the fifth innings, and three runs in the sixth, take a 6-4 lead. Pitt was unable to generate offense in the final innings as they went on to lose the series finale in Tallahassee by two runs.
