PITTSBURGH - The Pitt men's soccer team bounced back with a 3-1 win over Bucknell Monday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field, picking up its first win of the 2026 season.
Miguel Bertran netted the first goal of the match, while Grayson Carter and Cannon Scretchen each found the back of the net in the second half to seal the result.
In the 31st minute, Bertran broke through with a tap into the back of the net from a loose ball behind the Bucknell backline, giving the Panthers a 1-0 advantage entering the break.
Bucknell came out with life to start the second half and leveled the match in the 58th minute on a goal from Cade Whitmire. Pitt answered quickly when Scretchen was taken down in the box for a penalty kick, which Carter stepped up to convert, putting the Panthers back in front, 2-1.
Pitt added an insurance goal as Scretchen netted his first goal for the blue and gold off a through ball up the left side that gave him a shot to the back right corner.
The Panthers matched Bucknell shot-for-shot at 10-10 on the night but were the sharper team in the final third, out-shooting the Bison on target 5-3 while also winning the corner kick battle, 3-0. Jack Moxom earned the win in goal, stopping two of the three shots on target he faced.
