Pitt Cross Country Set for Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational

PITTSBURGH – Pitt is set to travel to University Park, Pa. for the first away meet of the 2026 season, the annual Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State. The women's 6K race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 5.2-mile race at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, September 11th.

LAST TIME OUT – PANTHER OPENER
Pitt opened the season last Friday hosting the Panther Opener, held in Pittsburgh's Schenley Park, both the men's and women's teams claimed first place. Leading the men's team was junior Nick Steinfeldt with a time of 14:54.6, followed closely by fellow junior Nolan McGinn (14:54.7) and senior Luke Simpson (14:54.7). Sophomore Maureen Cheruiyot won the women's race outright with a time of 16:58.3, followed by junior Ella Cook (18:05.6) and sophomore Elena Barrall (18:08.1).
