Panthers Host No. 18 Cornell Tuesday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's soccer team returns home to Ambrose Urbanic Field on Tuesday, Sept. 15, hosting No. 18 Cornell in a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with live coverage available on ACCNX.

OPENING KICK

Pitt enters Tuesday's match at 3-2-1 on the season, coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 7 SMU in its ACC opener on Friday.
Cornell arrives at 2-1, coming off a 3-2 loss at then-No. 14 Akron on Sept. 8; the Big Red were ranked No. 18 heading into that game, with a new poll set for release Tuesday.
Tuesday's match is a rematch of the two programs' only prior meeting, Pitt's 1-0 win over Cornell in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

LAST TIME OUT

Pitt dropped its ACC opener to No. 7 SMU, 3-1, on Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
SMU took a 1-0 lead into halftime and pushed the advantage to 3-0 before Carter Kopay got the Panthers on the board in the 89th minute, assisted by Logan Oliver, for his first goal as a Panther.
Jack Moxom made one save in goal, and Pitt was outshot 14-8 despite matching SMU with four shots on goal apiece.

SCOUTING THE BIG RED

Cornell opened the season with a 3-0 win at Marist on Aug. 29 and followed with a 2-1 upset of then-No. 21 UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 4, before falling 3-2 at then-No. 14 Akron on Sept. 8. The Big Red have scored first in all three games this season.
Cornell is averaging 14.7 shots and 2.33 goals per game, while limiting opponents to 9.7 shots and 1.33 goals per game.
Senior midfielder and team captain Connor Miller, a 2025 First-Team All-Ivy selection and 2026 Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree, scored the game-winner against ranked UC Santa Barbara in the 87th minute.
