Ranked Matchup Awaits as No.20 Pitt Hosts No.16 Louisville on Alumni Night

PITTSBURGH — The No.20 Pitt men's soccer team returns home to Ambrose Urbanic Field to host No.16 Louisville on Friday, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ACCNX, with Kevin Wheeler and David Day on the call.

OPENING KICK

Friday's match is the 11th all-time meeting between Pitt and Louisville, with the Cardinals holding a 7-2-1 series edge, including a 3-1 advantage in matches played at Pitt.
The two sides last met Oct. 31, 2025, playing to a scoreless draw at Louisville.
Pitt enters Friday's match at 5-2-1 (1-1-0 ACC) and ranked No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, coming off a 2-1 win at California on Sept. 20.
Louisville arrives unbeaten at 7-0-2 (1-0-1 ACC) and ranked No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, a significant climb from a preseason projection of 14th in the ACC.
Louisville head coach John Michael Hayden, in his eighth season leading the Cardinals, is 2-2-1 all-time against Pitt.
Friday's match doubles as Alumni Night at Ambrose Urbanic Field, with former Pitt men's soccer players and staff recognized as part of the evening.

LAST TIME OUT

Pitt improved to 5-2-1 on the season with a 2-1 win at California on Sept. 20, the 100th win of head coach Jay Vidovich's career with the program.
Pitt broke through in the 22nd minute when Cannon Scretchen drove a hard cross into the box that deflected off a Cal defender and into the net, giving the Panthers an early 1-0 lead.
The Panthers doubled their advantage three minutes into the second half when Miguel Bertran played a ball through to Albert Thorsen, who slotted his shot into the left corner to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute for his first tally of the season.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Louisville enters Friday with one of the most productive attacks in the ACC, having scored 22 goals through nine matches while allowing just 10, with a 157-74 edge in shots and a 66-25 advantage in shots on goal.
The Cardinals opened ACC play with a 3-2 win over California on Sept. 13, played to a 3-3 draw with Boston College on Sept. 18, and closed its recent homestand with a 3-0 win over Belmont on Sept. 21.
