Pitt Welcomes Penn to Ambrose Urbanic for First-Ever Home Meeting

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's soccer team returns home Monday, Sept. 7, to host Penn at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with live coverage available on ACCNX.

OPENING KICK

Monday's match marks just the second all-time meeting between Pitt and Penn, with the Quakers holding a 1-0-0 series edge after a 1-0 win in the two programs' lone previous meeting in 2024. It will be the first-ever matchup between the two schools at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Pitt enters off a scoreless draw at #8 Michigan State on Thursday, holding the nationally ranked Spartans off the board on the road to move to 2-1-1 on the season.
Penn is off to a 1-0-0 start, opening its season with a 4-1 win over Monmouth on Sept. 1, a home match that was briefly suspended due to lightning.

SCOUTING THE QUAKERS

Penn sits at 1-0-0 through one match, having opened the year with a 4-1 win over Monmouth.
Marco Bottene scored a first-half brace in that opener, while Adam Ambrus-Aikelin and Mario Stoka added their first goals in a Penn uniform.
Goalkeeper Phillip Falcon III earned the win in net, making two saves.
Penn was picked third in the Ivy League preseason poll, and senior defender Connor Dawson was named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch List.

LAST TIME OUT

Pitt held firm defensively on the road Thursday, battling #8 Michigan State to a scoreless draw at DeMartin Stadium.
Jack Moxom was steady between the posts, turning aside four saves to preserve the shutout.
The Panthers controlled 55 percent of possession on the night against a top-10 opponent. Both teams tallied four shots on target.

PROGRAM NOTES

Pitt was picked 11th in the preseason ACC poll, and defender Niklas Sørensen was named to the ACC Preseason Player to Watch List.
Sørensen and Caden Grabfelder both landed on TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Top 100 List, checking in at No. 71 and No. 79, respectively.
