Prior to his time at Tiffin, Yohman was an assistant coach at Robert Morris where he coached the throwers and pole vaulters and served as the head strength and conditioning coach for all track and field members. During his two-year period with the Colonials, he led Keturah Hunter to school records in the weight throw and hammer throw, guided four individuals to conference championships, as the Colonials claimed ten conference medals in the throws.

As a student-athlete at Penn State, Yohman advanced to the NCAA East Preliminaries in three consecutive years, from 2016-2018. In 2017, he made it to the finals in the shot put, finishing eleventh place, receiving All-American and Academic All-American honors.
