Bryce Agler is entering his first season as the Director of Video and Player Performance for the Pitt women’s basketball team after joining the staff in July of 2021. Agler brings years of experience from the professional ranks (WNBA) as well as at the collegiate ranks to the Panthers.
“I’m honored to be joining the Pitt women’s basketball family and work with this esteemed staff and program,” said Agler. “I’m excited about the chance to lend my experience to this great team and can’t wait to get started this season.”
Agler comes to Pitt after spending the last five seasons as an assistant coach in the WNBA for a pair of franchises.
Most recently he served as assistant coach, player development coach and video coordinator for the Dallas Wings under head coach Brian Agler, his father. While with the Wings, Agler was responsible for creating and presenting scouting reports, post and guard player development, assisting in pre-draft player evaluation and roster decisions while also aiding the head coach with in-game decisions.
Prior to Dallas, Agler was an assistant coach and player development coach on his father’s staff for the Los Angeles Sparks where he earned his first career WNBA Championship ring in 2016. In his first season with the Sparks, he helped lead the squad to a 26-8 overall record while they advanced to the WNBA Finals and defeated the Minnesota Lynx to secure the third championship in franchise history. The Sparks made another run to the WNBA Finals in 2017 as they posted an identical 26-8 record, but this time they fell to the Minnesota Lynx in the rematch of the previous finals.
Prior to the 2018 WNBA season, Agler got back into college as he joined the staff at Southern Methodist University where he served as the video coordinator for the women’s basketball program for the 2017-18 campaign. During his time with the Mustangs, he created and assisted in all video and scouting reports for opponents, helped with in-game preparations and in-game decisions while also designing an offseason video workout program for incoming players.
He got his start in coaching at the collegiate level in 2014 as he joined the Eastern Illinois women’s basketball staff as assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and video coordinator. He was responsible for organizing all recruiting on and off campus visits, recruiting high school and AAU players, player development, creating scouting and video reports while also assisting in game preparation and in-game decisions. He spent two seasons, 2014-2016, on the Panthers’ staff.
Agler is a 2014 graduate of Wittenberg University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a minor in sports management. While at Wittenberg, he also served as a student coach for the men’s basketball team.
