Jesse Goleman joined the Pitt women's soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach in August of 2021 and was elevated to assistant coach in July of 2023. A Pittsburgh native, Goleman serves as the goalkeeper coach for the Panthers.
Pitt posted its fifth consecutive winning season in 2024, finishing with a 9-6-3 mark that included five shutouts. Goalkeeper Ellie Breech set the Panthers' all-time wins record with her 23 victory in goal during a 4-1 win over Clemson.
The Panthers had a record-breaking year in 2023 setting program records for most wins overall (17), ACC wins (6), home wins (9), points (194), goals (64) and assists (68). The coaching staff helped the team propel past five top 25 teams including three in the top ten. Pitt also advanced to the ACC Championship semifinals and the NCAA Championship Elite Eight for the first time. With all of these accomplishments and more, the 2023 Pitt women's soccer staff was awarded the NCAA Atlantic Staff of the Year honors. Breech started every game in goal and had 77 saves with five solo shutouts and a pair of combined shutouts.
In 2022, Pitt overcame several key injuries throughout the season to set then program records for overall wins (14) and ACC wins (5) and qualified for both the ACC Championship and NCAA Championship fields for the first time in program history. Pitt finished the season at No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches Rankings, with the Panthers earning a top-25 ranking in each of the final seven weeks of the organization's poll. Caitlyn Lazzarini recorded seven shutouts in goal, while also combining with Breech for two additional clean sheets. Pitt allowed just 21 goals on the season with Lazzarini posting a 0.88 goals against average and an .809 save percentage.
Goleman helped guide the Panthers to their second-straight 11-win season in 2021, finishing 11-7 with a 4-6 ACC mark. Pitt posted victories in each of its first five games for the second year in a row. With 12 ACC points, Pitt finished a program-best place in the league standings by tying for ninth and also tied the school record for single-season wins set in 2021 and ACC wins (2015).
Prior to joining Pitt, Goleman worked in the volunteer assistant role for the Northeastern men’s soccer team and over the summer for the USL League Two Champions Des Moines Menace.
Goleman spent three seasons at Centenary University in New Jersey and was part of the 2016 Colonial States Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after helping Centenary win the conference championship and advance to the NCAA tournament. He worked with 20 all-conference selections and one conference player of the year during his time working with Centenary, Chatham University, Seton Hill University and Carlow University.
As a player, Goleman was a three-time all-conference selection at Centenary University and led the Cyclones to their first-ever CSAC championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2013. He represented the USA Maccabi Team on three different occasions (2012, '13, '15) in Brazil, Israel and Chile. Goleman ended his career at Centenary as the all-time leader in saves, goals against average, save percentage, shutouts and wins.
Goleman led Allderdice High School to three City League Championships and finished as the all-time leader in shutouts with 25 and as the record holder for fewest goals against in a season with nine. He is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
In the summer of 2019, Goleman started his own company, Goleline, LLC, which specializes in strength and conditioning for goalkeepers. He earned a degree in business administration from Centenary University in 2016.
