
Pitt Women's Basketball Hosts Loyola on Sunday

PITTSBURGH - Coming off a resounding 72-47 victory over Radford last Wednesday, the University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team is set to host Loyola (Md.) on Sunday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center. Tipoff between the Panthers and Greyhounds is set for 2 p.m.
Pitt is 3-1 at home this season and has won its last three games at the Petersen Events Center. After Loyola, the Panthers are on the road for the next two (at Ohio State, 12/3 and at Duquesne, 12/7). Pitt enters Sunday's contest at 3-2 overall while Loyola is 0-4.
Sunday's game is the final of three Pack the Pete promotions. Pitt Athletics has teamed up with 100.7 Star and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for its `Pack the Pete' Food Drive. Any fan that donates a nonperishable food item will receive free admission to the game and will also be signed up to win tickets to 100.7's O'Starry Night 2 concert on Dec. 9, at the Petersen Events Center featuring O.A.R., Train and Daughtry, among others.
WIGNOT LEADS PITT PAST RADFORD:
Senior Monica Wignot is making the most of her only year on the Pitt basketball team. The 6-foot-3 forward is coming off a career-high 20 points in her last outing vs. Radford and also added three rebounds, four assists and four blocks.
The former volleyball player ranks third in the ACC in blocks per game (3.0). She has 15 blocks on the season and has had at least three rejections in four of Pitt's first five games. She also ranks 10th in assist/turnover ratio at 2.5 per game. Wignot had eight helpers in the win against Michigan on Nov. 20, which is the highest total of any Pitt player this season.
McMANUS AND BUGG STEPPING UP:
Wignot led four players in double figures against Radford, including Cora McManus who notched double-digits for the second consecutive game. The center from Seattle, Wash., had 10 points at James Madison and then 11 points and seven rebounds against the Highlanders. McManus is currently averaging a career-best 6.2 points per game.
Freshman guard Aysia Bugg has also been productive on the offensive end as she has been in double-digits in three of Pitt's five games this season, including 11 points vs. Radford. Bugg is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.8 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY:
Pitt holds a 5-0 all-time series lead against Loyola and this will be the fifth straight year the two teams have met dating back to the 2010-11 season. Pitt is 3-0 at home against the Greyhounds, 1-0 in Baltimore and 1-0 in neutral sites.
SCOUTING LOYOLA:
The Greyhounds are 0-4 this season and are being outscored by an average of 18.2 points per game. Their last two losses have come on the road at Georgetown (71-44) and at Maryland (65-43). Colleen Marshall is the team's leading scorer at 13.8 points per game, while Bri Betz-White is the only other player in double-figures at 10.3 ppg. Jeneh Perry leads the team in rebounding at 8.5 per game, but the next closest Greyhound averages 4.0 rpg and Loyola is getting out-rebounded on average by 14.7 per game.
