PITTSBURGH – Riding a six game home winning streak, the University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball team hosts the undefeated Youngstown State Penguins on Sunday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
After a season-opening loss to Princeton, the Panthers have reeled off six consecutive home wins which is their longest streak since the 2008-09 season. Sunday’s game marks the third of a seven game home stand for the Panthers.
Pitt enters the contest at 7-3 overall while YSU is a perfect 10-0 on the season. This will be the first team from a Power 5 conference the Penguins have faced this season.
FRESHMEN ON THE GLASS:

Diop has had no less than eight boards in her last four games and is averaging 8.8 rebounds during that stretch. All of last year, the Panthers out-rebounded their opponents just six times.
KIESEL MAKES 100TH CONSECUTIVE START:
Making her 100th consecutive start against Ball State, Brianna Kiesel had a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 4-of-6 from long range. She surpassed 1,500 career points and she ranks 8th all-time at Pitt with 1,519 points. Kiesel ranks 7th in the ACC in scoring (17.1), fifth in assists (4.0), fourth in FT percentage (87.8), 7th in steals (2.1) and 2nd in assist/turnover ratio (2.7).
SCOUTING YOUNGTOWN STATE:
The Penguins enter Sunday’s contest with a perfect 10-0 record. This will be their second trip to the Pittsburgh area within a week as they defeated Robert Morris last Wednesday by the score of 73-65 in overtime. Heidi Schlegel is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder at 14.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The Penguins are giving up just 51.3 points per game and own a +23.0 scoring margin.
TEDDY BEAR TOSS:
Fans who attend Sunday’s game are asked to bring a brand new Teddy Bear or stuffed animal with the tag still on it to be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. At halftime, those who bring a stuffed animal will be able to participate in the Teddy Bear Toss on the court with an opportunity to win prizes.
