The Opening Tip
- Pitt (8-11, 0-6) plays No. 5 Duke (16-2, 4-2) Saturday, Jan. 20 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the second meeting in 10 days between the two schools. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network (WTAE in Pittsburgh) and is scheduled to tipoff at 4 p.m.
- The Panthers have used 14 different starting lineups this season, the most in the NCAA. Freshmen have combined to make 57 starts on the year.
- Parker Stewart is averaging a team-high 12.3 points per game, while going 18-of-37 (.486) from beyond the three-point arc in conference play.
- Pitt has dropped 12 consecutive road contests to ranked opponents with the last win coming at No. 17 Cincinnati, 62-52, Feb. 9, 2013.
- Parker Stewart set a school record with seven three-point field goals and finished with a season-high 23 points as Pitt fell 59-45 at Syracuse Tuesday evening. Stewart went 7-of-13 from beyond the three-point arc and 8-of-14 from the field overall.
- Kene Chukwuka added seven points, four rebounds and an assist, while Terrell Brown had six points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Chukwuka went 2-of-2 from the field and is now 7-of-7 from the field with four three-point field goals over the past three games.
- Pitt made a season-low 14 field goals in the game. The team, other than Stewart, combined to go 6-of-26 (.231) from the field.
- The Panthers trailed 37-35 with 9:46 remaining before being outscored 22-10 to close the game.

- Parker Stewart has scored in double figures in six of the past seven games and is averaging 12.4 points per game in that span. He is 20-of-46 (.435) from beyond the arc over the past seven games, including a school freshman-record 7-of-13 effort from long range Tuesday at Syracuse.
- Jared Wilson-Frame leads the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game and is second on the team in three-point field goals with 36. He has scored in double figures 13 times and made three or more three-point field goals in a game five times. Wilson-Frame has struggled from beyond the arc in league play going just 7-of-42 (.167) from three-point range.
- Kene Chukwuka has made seven consecutive field goal attempts, including four three-pointers, over the past three games. He is averaging 7.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in that span.
- Marcus Carr is averaging 12.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in Pitt's eight wins. He is 34-of-57 (.596) from the field, including 13-of-24 (.542) from three-point range, in those contests. Carr is off to a slow start in league play averaging 6.3 points per game, while shooting 26.5 percent (13-of-49) from the field.
- Parker Stewart is 34-of-80 (.425) from beyond the three-point arc and is averaging 9.8 points per game over the past 14 contests. Stewart has made two or more threes in nine of the past 14 contests and leads the team with 37 three-point field goals.
- Jared Wilson-Frame has made 17 consecutive free throws and leads conference in free throw percentage (1.000) in league play. He is shooting 81.1 percent (43-of-53) from the line for the year.

In contrast, Pitt has shot just 39.4 percent (217-of-551) from the field, 30.5 percent (74-of-243) from three-point range and 67.5 percent (135-of-200) from the foul line in its losses.
- The Panthers allowing 40.3 points in the paint per game in ACC play, while averaging just 19.7 points per game on the interior. Pitt has lost the points in the paint battle 12 times, including all six league games, this season.
- Ryan Luther will miss for the remainder of the season due to a stress reaction in his right foot. He will apply for a medical hardship and look to return to Pitt next season. Luther averaged 12.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game over the opening 10 games prior to the injury.
