The Opening Tip
- Pitt (8-17, 0-12) opens a two-game homestand against Louisville (17-8, 7-5) Sunday, Feb. 11. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network (WTAE in Pittsburgh) and is scheduled to tipoff at 1 p.m.
- The Panthers have used 15 different starting lineups this season, tied for the third most in the NCAA. Freshmen have combined to make 78 starts on the year.
- Pitt has dropped 12 consecutive games, the longest streak in program history.
- The Pitt coaching staff will wear Autism Speaks pins during the game as part of NCAA Autism Awareness and Acceptance Weekend (Feb. 9-11). Autism Speaks Coaches Powering Forward was created in 2014 after former Pitt assistant coaches Pat Skerry and Tom Herrion embarked on a mission to raise awareness of autism.
- Pitt fell to 0-6 on the season against ranked opponents with a 72-48 loss at No. 16 Clemson Thursday night.
- Terrell Brown scored a season-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Brown has now notched double-digit scoring efforts in back-to-back games, while also recording two or more blocks in seven consecutive contests.
- Jared Wilson-Frame knocked down two three-pointers in the game, marking his fifth consecutive game with two or more made threes.
- Parker Stewart also hit two three-pointers in the contest, marking his fourth consecutive game with two or more treys.
- Pitt has started three or more freshmen in a game 17 times, including each of the past 15 contests. Freshmen have combined to make 78 starts as Marcus Carr (22), Khameron Davis (17), Parker Stewart (14), Terrell Brown (12), Shamiel Stevenson (11) and Peace Ilegomah (2) have each made starts this season.
- Pitt has dropped 16 consecutive ACC regular season contests. The Panthers last regular season conference win was an 80-66 decision over No. 17 Florida State Feb. 18, 2017.
- Terrell Brown is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game over the past two contests. He is 14-of-25 (.560) from the field in that span and is coming off a season-best 19-point, eight-rebound effort at No. 16 Clemson.
- Marcus Carr has scored in double figures in four of the past six games and is averaging 12.7 points and 5.5 assists per game in that span. He has scored 10 or more points in three of the past four games, extending those averages to 13.8 points and 7.0 assists per game.
- Parker Stewart has scored in double figures in seven of 12 ACC contests and is averaging 10.2 points per game in league play. He ranks seventh in the ACC in three-point percentage (.400) and ninth in three-point field goals (2.50 3pg.) in conference play.
- Jared Wilson-Frame leads the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game and three-point field goals (53). He has scored in double figures 17 times and made three or more three-point field goals in a game nine times.
- Terrell Brown leads the Panthers with 35 blocked shots and is tied for fourth in the ACC with 2.17 blocks per game in conference play. Steven Adams (2013) was the last Pitt freshman to lead the team in blocks. Brown has recorded two or more blocks in each of the past seven games.
- Jared Wilson-Frame is averaging 15.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 made threes per game over the past five contests.
- Shamiel Stevenson leads the team in field goal percentage (.507) and has scored in double figures nine times. Stevenson also leads the team with 115 rebounds on the year.
- Khameron Davis leads the Panthers and ranks second all-time among Pitt freshmen in three-point percentage (.447, 21-of-47).
- Marcus Carr leads Pitt in minutes (735), starts (22), free throw percentage (.836), assists (107) and steals (18). He has scored in double figures 13 times and ranks ninth among ACC freshmen in scoring at 10.7 points per game.
- Parker Stewart is 46-of-118 (.390) from beyond the three-point arc and has made two or more threes in 14 of the past 20 contests. Stewart ranks second among ACC freshmen with 49 three-point field goals on the season.
- Pitt's freshman class has accounted for 68.2 percent (499-of-732) of the team's scoring over the past 13 games. The group has 19 of Pitt's 27 double-figure scoring games in that span.
- The Panthers are shooting 47.5 percent (197-of-415) from the field, 37.1 percent (75-of-202) from three-point range and 72.1 percent (119-of-165) from the foul line in their eight wins. In contrast, Pitt has shot just 38.8 percent (341-of-879) from the field, 30.2 percent (120-of-397) from three-point range and 68.1 percent (188-of-276) from the foul line in its losses.
- Pitt freshmen scored 39 of the team's 51 points in the first meeting with Louisville. Parker Stewart (12), Marcus Carr (11) and Shamiel Stevenson (10) each scored in double figures.
- Pitt's 240 home wins since the start of the 2002-03 season at the fourth most in the NCAA in that span.
