- Junior center Kalista Walters continues to lead the ACC field goal percentage rankings (.661). The NCAA ranks only student-athletes who average five made field goals per game, and Walters averages 4.6. Walters is third in the ACC with 2.0 blocks per game.
- Sophomore point guard Jasmine Whitney is fifth in the league with 4.6 assists per game and a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio.
- Redshirt junior Yacine Diop is the league's 12th-ranked scorer with 15.3 points per game.
- Pitt leads the ACC in blocked shots per game (6.2), ranking eighth in the nation. The Panthers are 10th in the country in total blocked shots (161).
A WIN WOULD…
- End a 12-game losing streak in the all-time series against Syracuse. Pitt's last win against the Orange came Jan. 24, 2009, in the Carrier Dome (77-75).
- End a six-game losing streak for the Panthers against the Orange when playing at Petersen Events Center. Pitt's last win against Syracuse when playing in Pittsburgh was Jan. 9, 2008 (85-75).
- End a three-game overall losing streak and a four-game losing streak at Petersen Events Center for the Panthers.
LAST TIME OUT
- Sophomore guards Alayna Gribble and Jasmine Whitney led Pitt with 17 and 14 points, respectively, in an 82-58 road loss at (RV/RV) Miami Thursday night at Watsco Center.
- The game marked Gribble's third time leading the Panthers in scoring this season. She ended the game making 6-of-8 from the field, 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. Whitney made 5-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Junior center Kalista Walters was a perfect 4-of-4 on the day with eight points and added a team-high five rebounds.
WATCHING WHITNEY
- With 120 assists on the season, point guard Jasmine Whitney needs five more to tie Laine Selwyn for the third most made by a sophomore in program history (125).
- Whitney is 11 steals and 19 rebounds away from reaching 100 and 200 for her career, respectively.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Last time out, Syracuse (19-7, 7-6 ACC) upset No. 17/16 Duke Thursday at the Carrier Dome, 68-65. Tiana Mangakahia led a trio of Orange double-figure scorers with 19 points and added 11 assists. Isis Young had 16 points and Miranda Drummond had 12.
- Mangakahia is the ACC's assist leader with 10.1 per game and ranks sixth in scoring with 18.0 points per game. She is the only ACC player averaging a double-double this season, and leads the league with a free throw percentage of .865 (122-of-141).
- The Orange are 4-4 overall when playing away from Syracuse this season and 2-4 in ACC play.
- Syracuse leads the all-time series, 40-19, against the Panthers. Pitt is looking for its first win against the Orange when playing at Petersen Events Center since Jan. 9, 2008 (85-75).
