Panthers Host Falcons Saturday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team is set to host Bowling Green at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa., Saturday, Feb. 16. The Panthers (3-4, 0-2 ACC) and the Falcons (4-3, 0-0 MAC) will face off at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Pitt dropped a 7-0 decision at Louisville Sunday, Feb. 10, dropping its first ACC road contest of the season.
Unable to clinch the doubles point, Louisville began singles play with the advantage. The Panthers dropped matches to the Cards on all six courts.

THE SERIES

The Panthers and Falcons meet for just the third time in program history.
Saturday's dual will be the first meeting between Pitt and Bowling Green since 1999. The Falcons lead the all-time series 2-0.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

Last time out, Bowling Green met with Michigan State and Cleveland State. In their first match of the weekend, the Falcons dropped a 0-4 decision to Michigan State on Feb. 9. The match was called early after the Spartans won all three doubles matches and three of the singles matchups.

The Falcons also met Cleveland State on Feb. 10. Bowling Green was successful in this meeting and closed out the weekend with a win, 4-3. Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash both recorded wins in doubles and singles play, giving the Falcons a 3-0 advantage early in the match.
The Falcons are 4-3 on the season, recording losses only at Louisville, Notre Dame and Michigan State.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Panthers return to the Oxford Athletic Club Friday, Feb. 22, at 12 p.m. to host Virginia Tech.
