
Pitt Looks For Third Straight Win As Coppin State Comes To Town Tuesday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (7-2, 0-0 ACC) returns home Tuesday night looking for their third straight win as Coppin State comes to town. The Panthers and Eagles will square off inside the Petersen Events Center at 6:00 pm on ACC Network Extra.

- This marks the third meeting of all-time between the two programs with each team winning one matchup. Coppin State won the last meeting between the two on Nov. 25, 2003 in Pittsburgh, 75-61.
- Pitt currently holds a 15-1 record against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has worked early on. Pitt currently ranks 2nd in the NCAA in total rebounds (436), 4th in offensive rebounds per game (17.4) and 5th in rebounds per game (48.4 rpg). The Panthers have posted four games with 50+ rebounds this season, the most in a season since 2009-10.
- Pitt has continued to get to the free throw line as they lead the NCAA in free throw attempts (234) while ranking 5th in free throws made (146). Pitt has attempted at least 20 free throws in seven of nine games this season. Junior Amber Brown leads the ACC and ranks 26th in the NCAA in free throw attempts (50).
- The Panthers return home Tuesday night as they welcome Coppin State for a non-conference battle at 6:00 pm inside the Petersen Events Center on ACC Network Extra.
- Junior Amber Brown had the best game of her career on the road Saturday at Ball State. She notched her sixth career double-double as she netted a career-high 17 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 32 minutes of work. Brown has now scored in double figures in two straight games.
- The Panthers depth has been very evident as Pitt and Duke are the only two teams in the ACC that have at least 10 players averaging at least 3.7 ppg on the year.
- Pitt improved to 2-0 on the road with a 64-54 victory over Ball State on Saturday afternoon. It marks the first time Pitt has started 2-0 on the road since 2008-09.
- Junior Amber Brown led Pitt to victory as she netted her first double-double of the season with a season-high 17 points and a career-best 14 rebounds. Taisha Exanor also came off the bench and provided Pitt with a career-high 11 points and five boards in the win.
- As a team, Pitt out-rebounded Ball State 51-30 while also shooting 42.6% from the floor in the win.
- One of the biggest points of emphasis for head coach Lance White since taking over the Panthers program prior to the 2018-19 season was rebounding. Pitt has taken that to heart through the first four years under White's guidance.
- The Panthers are the best rebounding team in the ACC and are 5th in the NCAA so far this season averaging 48.4 rebounds per game.
- Pitt also ranks 2nd in the NCAA in total rebounds with 436 which are the most through nine games for Pitt in program history.
- The Panthers have grabbed at least 39 rebounds in all nine games, marking the first time in program history they opened the season with nine straight games of at least 39 rebounds.
- Pitt also ranks 4th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (17.4) and 8th in the NCAA in rebound margin (+13.6).
- The Panthers are the only team in the ACC to have seven players averaging at least 3.3 rebounds per game this season.
- Liatu King leads the team and ranks third in the ACC in rebounds per game (9.6 rpg). She also leads the ACC in offensive rebounds per game (4.2 orpg) and total offensive boards (38).
- Pitt has grabbed at least 50 rebounds in four games already this season, their most in a season since 2009-10 when they did it five times.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU
- Junior Amber Brown has turned into one of the most reliable players on the Pitt roster since joining the squad three years ago.
- The do-it-all player is averaging 27.7 mpg, 8.9 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 1.8 apg so far this season while starting all nine games.
- Last time out, Brown exploded with her first double-double of the season to lead Pitt to victory over Ball State. The junior netted a career-high 17 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 32 minutes of work.
- She now has six career double-doubles with five coming during her impressive freshman season.
- Brown has started all 59 games over the past three seasons while averaging a team-high 29.1 mpg for her career.
- A tenacious rebounder, Brown surpassed the 400 career rebound plateau (59 games) in the win over Ball State. She is the second fastest Pitt player to 400 career rebounds since Pitt joined the ACC in 2013-14 (Brenna Wise - 56 games).
- Since joining the squad, Brown has recorded 13 games with 10+ rebounds. She has also snagged at least five rebounds in 45 of her 59 career games.
