
Pitt Returns To Action At Home Thursday Night Against Boston College

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (9-6, 0-4 ACC) makes the quick return to the court Thursday night as they welcome the Boston College Eagles to the Petersen Events Center for a conference battle. Tip is set for 6:00 pm and the game will air on ACC Network Extra.

- New Year, New Gear – During timeouts on Tuesday, Pitt athletics will be giving out new gear for select fans in attendance.
- Chalk Talk – Assistant coach Josh Petersen will breakdown the Eagles 45 minutes prior to tip. The Chalk Talk will take place in the IC Light Baseline Club and popcorn and drinks will be provided to those in attendance.
- Thursday's game will air live on ACC Network Extra with Jason Earle and Hailey Zeise on the call. You can watch the game by clicking HERE.

- This marks the 51st meeting of all-time between the two programs with the Eagles holding the 31-19 advantage in the series.
- Boston College has won five of six in the series including last season in the ACC Tournament first round. The Eagles have also won two straight in Pittsburgh.
- The Panthers notched an 83-80 road victory over the Eagles last season.
- Boston College enters Thursday's game with a 11-4 overall record and a 2-2 ACC mark. They have won three straight including two ACC games (Syracuse, Clemson).
- Taylor Soule is leading the team in scoring as she is averaging 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists while leading the ACC shooting 59.9% from the floor.
- Cameron Swartz is enjoying a strong start to her season as she is averaging 13.6 points and 4.1 rebounds while connecting on 22 three-pointers. Freshman Maria Gakdeng has earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors three straight weeks as she is averaging 9.5 points, a team-high 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.
- As a team, the Eagles are averaging 76.3 points per game while allowing 65.4 points per contest.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has paid off in a major way. Pitt currently ranks 8th in the NCAA total rebounds (676), 10th in rebounds per game (45.1) and 16th in defensive rebounds per game (30.1). The Panthers have recorded at least 35 rebounds in 15 straight games to start the season, a new program record.
- Pitt has been able to get to the free throw line at a high rate as they rank 7th in the NCAA in free throw attempts (328) while ranking 22nd in free throws made (207). Junior Amber Brown leads the ACC and ranks 25th in the NCAA in free throw attempts (82).
- The Panthers return home Thursday night as they welcome Boston College for a 6pm tip on ACC Network Extra.
- Junior Dayshanette Harris seems to be back to full strength as she netted a team-high 14 points and three boards last time out against Georgia Tech. On the year, she is averaging 21.2 minutes, 8.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 72.3% from the line.
- The Pitt offense finished strong last time out against #15 Georgia Tech as they netted 24 points on 9-of-15 from the floor. The 24 points were the most against the Yellow Jackets in any quarter this season as they are the #1 defensive team in the nation.
- The Panthers fell behind by as many as 29 late in the third quarter but outscored #15 Georgia Tech by 18 over the final 11 minutes as they fell 63-52 at home Tuesday night.
- Dayshanette Harris led the way with 14 points and three boards while going 4-for-8 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Destiny Strother netted 11 points and four boards off the bench in the loss.
- Pitt outscored GT 24-7 in the final frame, marking the most points allowed in a quarter this season by the Yellow Jackets.
- Pitt also shot 38.5% from the floor which was the second highest field goal percentage against GT this season. The Panthers' 38.5% from behind the arc marked the highest percentage against GT this season (minimum 10 attempts).
- The Pitt bench had a big game last time out against #15 Georgia Tech as they scored 29 of 52 points for the Panthers.
- The Pitt bench outscored the Georgia Tech bench 29-6 in the loss.
- Destiny Strother led the way for Pitt off the bench as she netted 11 points and four rebounds (all offensive) while connecting on 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
- Freshman Maliyah Johnson had her best offensive game of the season off the bench as she finished with six points, three rebounds and an assist in 11 minutes of work. Johnson went 2-for-3 from behind the arc, all in the fourth quarter.
- Sophomore Taisha Exanor finished off her game with four points and three boards while Cynthia Ezeja posted a season-high four points, six rebounds and one steal in 21 minutes of work.
- Pitt closes out their three-game homestand Sunday as Wake Forest comes to town for a conference battle. The Panthers and Demon Deacons will tip at 2:00 pm on ACC Network Extra.
