
Panthers Welcome Florida State For Final Regular Season Game Sunday

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (11-17, 2-15 ACC) will close out their regular season Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Florida State Seminoles to the Petersen Events Center for a 2pm tip on the ACC Network. Sunday's game will also be Senior Day for two Panthers, Ismini Prapa and Mary Dunn.

- This meeting marks the 9th between the two teams with Florida State owning the 8-0 series lead.
- The Seminoles are 4-0 all-time in Pittsburgh.
- FSU has won all eight meetings including a 67-53 victory last season in Tallahassee.
- Florida State enters Sunday's game with a 15-12 overall record and a 9-8 ACC mark. They are coming off of a 65-63 overtime victory against #22 Georgia Tech on Thursday.
- The Seminoles are being led offensively by senior Morgan Jones who is averaging 14.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.5% from the floor.
- Bianca Jackson ranks second on the team in scoring as she is averaging 7.2 points and 2.2 assists while connecting on 20 three-pointers. Freshman Mikayla Timpson is third on the team in scoring averaging 7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and a team-best 1.1 blocks while shooting 62.2% from the floor.
- As a team, Florida State is averaging 66.6 points per game while allowing 61.3 points per contest. They are averaging 37.1 rebounds per game while allowing just 33.2 rebounds per game to their opponents, third fewest allowed per game in the ACC this season.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has paid off in a major way. Pitt currently leads the ACC and ranks 9th in the NCAA in rebounds per game (44.0) and 4th in total rebounds (1,231). The Panthers have grabbed 50+ rebounds seven times this season, the most 50+ rebound games in a season since 2008-09 (7).
- As a team, the Panthers have been great blocking shots this season. Pitt currently ranks 2nd in the ACC and 15th in the NCAA in blocked shots (138). Junior Rita Igbokwe has 62 blocks on the year and now sits alone in 9th place on the Panthers' all-time blocks list with 151 career rejections.
- Pitt stays at home Sunday for their regular season finale as they welcome Florida State for a 2pm tip on ACC Network. Sunday's game will also be Senior Day for Ismini Prapa and Mary Dunn.
- Pitt and South Carolina (#1 FG% defense) are the only teams in the nation to hold at least 27 opponents to 45% or less shooting from the floor this season.
- Sophomore Liatu King has become a more consistent offensive threat for the Panthers of late as she finished off her second straight double-double last time out against #4 Louisville. King finished her game with 11 points and 10 boards, her third straight game scoring in double figures.
- The Panthers hung tough with one of the best teams in the country Thursday night at the Pete as #4 Louisville pulled away late to hand Pitt the 66-55 loss.
- Pitt had three players score 11 points in the loss led by Liatu King who notched her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- Destiny Strother came off the bench and chipped in 11 points on three triples while Amber Brown continued her steady play with 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the loss.
- As a team, the Panthers outrebounded the Cardinals 53-41 including a 22-16 edge in offensive rebounds. The Cardinals won the points off of turnovers category 20-9 which proved to be the difference in the game.
- One of the biggest points of emphasis for head coach Lance White since taking over the Panthers program prior to the 2018-19 season was rebounding. Pitt has taken that to heart through the first four years under White's guidance.
- The Panthers lead the ACC and rank 9th in the NCAA in rebounds per game (44.0) so far this season.
- Pitt also ranks 4th in the NCAA in total rebounds with 1,231, the most through 28 games for Pitt in program history. Pitt ranks 12th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (15.7) and 32nd in defensive rebounds per game (28.3).
- They lead the ACC in offensive rebounds per game (15.7) while posting 15 games with 17+ offensive boards and five with 20+. Rita Igbokwe ranks 2nd in the ACC in offensive rebounds per game in conference games (3.3 orpg).
- The Panthers have grabbed at least 35 rebounds in 26 of 28 games. Pitt set the program record for consecutive games to start a season with at least 35 rebounds (24 games).
- In the loss at Syracuse, the Panthers grabbed 62 rebounds which marked their most in a single game since grabbing 68 against Providence in a double overtime game in 2013.
- The 62 rebounds are the most Pitt has grabbed in regulation against a Power 5 program in school history and most in regulation against anyone since Dec. 3, 1976 when they snagged 84 rebounds against East Stroudsburg.
- Pitt has grabbed at least 50 rebounds in seven games already this season, their most in a season since 2008-09 when they also did it seven times.

- The Panthers will head down to Greensboro, NC for the 2022 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament. Pitt will await their opponent, but they will be playing in the opening round Wednesday inside the Greensboro Coliseum.
