PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s basketball team (6-9, 0-2 ACC) returns home Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for their second of three straight at the Petersen Events Center. Sunday’s game will tip at 2:00 pm and air on ACC Network with Angel Gray and Helen Williams on the call.

THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt returns home Sunday afternoon as they host Georgia Tech for an ACC game inside the Petersen Events Center at 2:00 pm. Sunday’s game will air on ACC Network.
- Senior Liatu King has been the best player on the floor all year long and it continued on Thursday as she netted a career-high 34 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks against #16 Notre Dame. She is the only player in the NCAA this year to post at least 34 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in a game while also becoming the first opponent to post that statline against Notre Dame in over 15 seasons.
- King currently ranks inside the top-5 in the ACC in multiple categories including third in points per game (20.6 ppg), second in rebounds per game (9.7 rpg), fourth in blocks per game (1.7 bpg), fourth in field goal percentage (55.9%) and second in double-doubles (eight).
- The freshman guard duo of Aaryn Battle and Jasmine Timmerson had their biggest impact of the season last time out against #16 Notre Dame. Battle finished off her game with nine points and five rebounds in 31 minutes while Timmerson had a career game with eight points, a rebound, assist and steal in a career-high 31 minutes of action.
- Sophomore guard Aislin Malcolm is enjoying her best season as she is averaging 10.2 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 39.6% from three-point range.

KING BY THE NUMBERS
- Senior Liatu King is doing things on the court that Pitt fans haven’t seen in a very long time, especially of late.
- She is enjoying a career year as she is averaging a team-high 20.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 55.9% from the floor and 75.3% from the free throw line.
- She is the only player in the nation currently averaging at least 20.6 ppg, 9.7 rpg and 2.0 spg per game.
- So far in ACC play, King is averaging 26.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 71.4% from the floor. She ranks third in scoring and first in field goal percentage in ACC play.
- So far this season, King has scored a career-high 309 points which leads the ACC and ranks eighth overall in the NCAA so far this season. Her 124 made field goals also leads the ACC and ranks fourth in the nation.
- The 309 points through the first 15 games are the most by a Pitt player since Shavonte Zellous (354) in 2008-09 when she earned All-America honors.
- Her 208 points through the first 10 games of the season were the most by a Pitt player since Lorri Johnson (all-time leading scorer) in 1990-91 (238). Johnson earned All-America honors for her play during that season for Pitt.
- King opened her season on fire as she has secured seven double-doubles in the first 10 games of the season. She became the first Panther in over 40 years to do that.
- King posted five straight games scoring 22+ points from Nov. 21-Dec. 3 to become the first Panther since Shavonte Zellous in 2009 to record five straight games with at least 22 points.
- King is the first player in program history to post five straight games with at least 22 points while shooting at least 50% from the floor in all five games.
- She has scored at least 30 points in two games this season, marking the most in a season by a Pitt player since Brianna Kiesel in 2014-15. She is also one of just two players in the nation this season with at least two games of 30+ points while shooting at least 70% from the floor (Ayoleka Lee - Kansas State).
- King is one of two players in the country (Cameron Brink - Stanford) to have at least two games with 20+ points, 8+ rebounds, 4+ blocks and 2+ assists. She is also the only player in the nation to post three games with at least 22 points, 11 total rebounds and five offensive rebounds so far this season.
- Her eight 20+ point games through the first 15 games of a season are the most by a Pitt player since Shavonte Zellous (12) in 2008-09.
- Her eight double-doubles through the first 15 games are the most by a Pitt player since Chelsea Cole (8) in 2010-11
- King has also scored at least 10 points in all 15 games to start the season. She is just the second Panther since Pitt joined the ACC in 2013-14 to do so as Brianna Kiesel opened the 2013-14 season with 21 straight games scoring in double figures. Shavonte Zellous owns the program record for consecutive 10+ point games to start a season, scoring double figures in 33 straight in 2008-09.
- Her 147 rebounds through the first 15 games of the season are the most by a Pitt player since Chelsea Cole had 155 in her first 15 games of the 2010-11 season.
- She is the first Pitt player since Wanda Randolph in 1976-77 to average at least 20.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks this late in the season (15 games).

SERIES HISTORY – GEORGIA TECH
- This meeting marks the 13th of all-time between the two programs with Georgia Tech holding the 8-4 lead in the series.
- Pitt won the last meeting between the two teams last season in Atlanta as they downed the Yellow Jackets 85-79 in double overtime.
- Pitt is 1-4 all-time at home against the Yellow Jackets with their lone win at the Pete coming on Jan. 14, 2018 by the score of 68-62.
- Georgia Tech have won five of the last six games in the all-time series.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
- Georgia Tech enters Sunday’s game with a 10-4 overall record and a 1-1 ACC mark after downing Virginia at home Thursday night, 63-60.
- The Yellow Jackets are being led offensively by Kara Dunn who is averaging 15.5 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 48.1% from the floor. In her two ACC games, she is averaging 24.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg while shooting 54.5% from the floor.
- Tonie Morgan is enjoying a strong season so far as she is averaging 14.6 points, a team-high 7.6 rebounds and a team-high 4.9 assists while shooting 46.7% from the floor. Kayla Blackshear is averaging 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds on 48% shooting while freshman Rusne Augustinaite is averaging 12.4 points and 4.5 rebounds while connecting on a team-high 35 three-pointers.
- As a team, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 73.3 points per game while allowing 62.1 points per game against. They are shooting 43.7% from the floor while winning the rebounding battle 41.9 per game to 36.2 per game.
LAST TIME OUT – VS. #16 NOTRE DAME
- The Panthers put a scare into the #16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday night inside the Petersen Events Center as they led by three in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold on. The Irish came away with the 71-66 road win.
- Liatu King had a massive game in the loss as she netted a game-high 34 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and two assists on 13-for-18 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the free throw line.
- The freshman duo of Aaryn Battle and Jasmine Timmerson played big minutes in the loss. Battle finished with nine points and five rebounds while Timmerson added a career-high eight points in 31 minutes off the bench.
- As a team, the Panthers shot 47.1% from the floor while the Irish were held to 41.3% shooting. Pitt also won the rebounding battle 37-31 but turned the ball over 17 times that led to 19 points for Notre Dame.
BATTLE TESTED
- Freshman guard Aaryn Battle has seen an increase in playing time due to her tenacious work ethic and strong play.
- So far this season, she has started nine of 15 games while averaging 26.2 minutes, 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 44.2% from the floor and 33.3% from deep.
- Battle is one of two freshmen in the ACC (Hannah Hidalgo - Notre Dame) averaging at least 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 44.2% shooting from the floor and 33.3% shooting from three-point range.
- Last time out, Battle came off the bench and provided a major spark as she netted nine points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal in 31 minutes of action against #16 Notre Dame.
- In the win over Le Moyne, Battle had a career game for Pitt as she netted a career-high 17 points, career-high six rebounds, three assists and a steal in 40 minutes of action. She also went an efficient 6-for-9 from the floor while scoring 10 points in the third quarter.
- She is the first Pitt freshman since Yacine Diop in 2014 to post a game with at least 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal while shooting at least 66% from the floor.
- She has posted three double figure scoring games so far this season.
- Battle has recorded multiple assists in nine of her past 11 games while grabbing at least three rebounds in each of the past 10 games for the Panthers.
